My name is Nienke Teunissen. I live in Utrecht in the Netherlands and am working for War Child Netherlands already for 8 years. War Child is an organization that offers psychosocial support, protection and education to children who grow up in war or had to flee their country because of war. Our unique proposition is that we scientifically proof our interventions making us an expert in the field of supporting children affected by war with their mental health. Our office is in Amsterdam, but like most people I am working from home a lot these days. For War Child I manage the bigger fundraising projects which quite often involve events like concerts and dinners, but also fundraising campaigns. Before I started working with War Child, I was a fundraising consultant for 9 years with a marketing agency in the Netherlands and the UK working for a whole bunch of different charities on many different fundraising challenges. Personally I am a proud aunt of a quartet of nieces and I love music, football (Ajax), sports and cats and am very allergic for injustice. My two mottos in life are ‘smile, and the world is yours’ and ‘music can heal wounds that medicines cannot touch’. I also truly believe in the concept of kindness to make the world a better place.
