Mariana Zayat Chammas
Instituto Socioambiental (BR)

I am passionate about the Amazon forest and its protection. I also think a lot about human rights, democracy and the current lack of dialogue in some societies and in some countries. My current challenge is how to increase my contribution to the world by making more impact when it comes to a world with climate emergency and shrinking civil society spaces.

I am an enthusiastic, hardworking and committed individual with 15 years of professional experience. In the past 6 years, I have worked with fundraising for environmental organizations, Greenpeace Brazil and now Instituto Socioambiental, and I have a successful proven track record of fundraising and relationship-building.

My background is in International Relations, with an MBA focusing on sustainability. I am a conflict mediator and have studied and practiced organizational development methodologies.

I love traveling by myself and I am lucky to always come home to an effective, caring and generous community, with my partner, family, and friends. My nieces and godsons play an essential role in my life, and just recently I became a cat co-owner – now I am learning to love them.
